Sleeping Young Woman

Sleeping Young Woman is a unique artwork, signed and dated in pencil on the lower right “ JJ Colin/1914 ”. The state of preservation is very good.

The small artwork, very graceful and of high quality, represents a young woman, half naked, resting on a bed whilst a man, sitting next to her, observes her. The environment and the costumes are of the 17th century. Much attention is paid to details like, for instance, the description of the paintings that decorate the wall and the finials of the bed. The whole, for the subject and the accurate setting, seems a sketch for a theatrical scenography.
