Jeune Hindoue

"Jeune Hindoue" is an original hand-signed and numbered lithograph realized by Henri Matisse in 1929. It is an edition of 50 prints. Excellent condition.

Those who know Henri Matisse through his sumptuous, intensely colored canvases might be surprised to learn that he was also a dedicated printmaker.  Matisse is recognized as one of the greatest printmakers of the 20 ^th  century, and worked with several methods. The artist began working with lithography as early as 1906 and used it to create sceneries in rich details and textures. He made also etchings, aquatints, drypoints, pochoires, linocuts, woodcuts and monotypes.
