Putti with Garlands of Flowers
In 1692 the banker Francesco Montioni commissioned the two artists Carlo Maratta (Camerano 1625 - Rome 1713) and Franz Werner Von-Tamm (Hamburg 1658 - Vienna 1724) a series of six paintings depicting cherubs and flowers for his palace in Via di Parione in Rome. Another series of the same subject was commissioned by the Marquis Nicolò Maria Pallavicini.
These paintings were a great success and the two painters with the help of the workshop made other versions. Currently two paintings of the Montoni series have been traced to the Louvre Museum, while those of Pallavicini are missing.
