From the Niagara Escarpment:  Another, in a series of digital prints.  This one was born out of a photo that I took during my time living in a cabin, in a secluded woodland.  I came across a grouping of old Birch Trees, untouched by man, and in complete harmony with the environment.  This scene still evokes an awakening of my senses.  The fragrance of the dew harmonized with the chirping of the birds throughout the forest.  Lonely, in terms of human contact.  The old Birch grouping, with its abundance of natural figures, provided me with warm comfort, and an air of acceptance.  This work was a process of exploring the contrast between the Birch group, and the surrounding forest.  I was struck by their authority.  Standing proud against the odds.  Giving them a 3-dimensional treatment, punctuated by an abundance of detail, reflects the way I felt when they appeared before me.    

Due to the density of the forest, and as a result of this particular variety of tree, the grouping boldly stood out to me, resilient against nature's forces.  They somehow demanded my attention.  I was particularly struck by the blueish-green background of the forest, which stands in stark contrast to the primary subject.
