African tapestry is an original modern artwork realized in Cotton blanket in mid-20th century by a malinese manufacture.
Bogolan technique depicting a village scene, Dogon (Mali).
The artwork depicts the traditional spinning of cotton and the manufacture/extraction of colour, 9 elongated handwoven cotton strips appro x 15cm wide, traditionally woven on the toe loom; the colors are produced by repeated application of mud and sap extracted from both leaves and tree bark will.
Signs of wear consistent with age, small opening at a seam, loss of paint in places, otherwise good condition.
