Sky and Sea

Sky and Sea is one of the best works of the artist Giuseppe Zumbolo. It is made on linen canvas, painted in acrylic in 2021.

The canvas was originally embroidered by hand in the early 1900s, and the ancient embroidery is an integral part of the work. The folds of the canvas, horizontally, outline the line of the horizon and the waves of the sea. A sequence of colors in warm shades of ultramarine blue alternate in the space. The three-dimensionality of the work creates many other shades of colors, depending on the viewer's point of view, like reflections on the waves of the sea.
