The Infantryman - SOLD

The Infantryman  is an original ink watercolored drawing on paper realized by  Jean-Jacques Grandville .

Hand-signed  in black ink on the lower margin at the center.

A beautiful satiric illustration, from the volume ' Scènes de la vie privée et publique des animaux ', published by Garner frères in 1869, Paris.

Very good conditions, except for usual yellow stains around the image and a water and ink stain on the lower left. Passpartout included ( 48 x 33 cm).

In spite of these signs of time, this modern artwork representing a billygoat with the uniform of an infantryman is still incredibly contemporary.
