Excellent self-portrait of the artist depicting Maccari looking at the observer. The artist is smoking a cigar and has a brush in his hands. The strokes of the engraving are extremely refined and elegant. His gaze is investigating and the background is characterized by darker colored strokes. On the back of the sheet there is a representation of two characters: two soldiers with their classic headdress. The drawing is made with black marker and is typical of the author's poetics, perhaps it is a preparatory drawing or a sketch for an artwork.
