Ouvrard - From Le Café Concert  is an original print, realized in  1893  by  Henri-Gabriel Ibels .

Black and white lithograph on paper.

Good conditions, except for some ripples along the margins and a normal yellowing of the paper. Very light foxings on the paper.

The print is from the portfolio  Le Café   Concert , a suite of lithographs on  japon  paper by Lautrec and Henri-Gabriel Ibels, printed by Edward Ancourt & Cie and published in 1893 by l'Estampe Originale.

In this portfolio, working with the artist Henri-Gabriel Ibels and the writer Georges Montorgueil, Lautrec created an ode to the café-concert. Montorgueil’s essay argued that café-concerts are places for people from all walks of life to relax and communicate. Lautrec’s images capture a cross-section of people involved in the Parisian nightlife.

This print represents  Gaston Ouvrard , said simply Ouvrard, a French comic songwriter and performer. Son of the artist Éloi Ouvrard, he became a star of the café-concert and popularized the comic style trooper invented by his father.
