Afro Basaldella (1912 – 1976) was an Italian painter, who took inspiration especially from Scipione and Mafai. He joined the Neocubism movement and mastered his drawing technique until he ultimately reached the annulment of the drawing and the object, at first through the exclusive use of colour in reference to natural reality, then through monochromatic or richly chromatic compositions disconnected from objective reality. The colour is always the main protagonist of his artworks.
