Signature and title in pencil on the lower left margin; a little signature etched on plate in capital letters on the lower right margin.

This wonderful original print is from the series Vae Solis , and represents an enchanted garden where a man is playing the violin, performing one of Brahm's lieder  for his woman, curled up on his feet in an extremely romantic attitude, almost in veneration.

Under the engraved image, a music sheet from one of Brahm's lieder , a remarque of the musician's portrait, and a drypoint etching representing children in circle. Beautiful impression, in excellent conditions, with a usual yellowing of paper and some minor and imperceptible stains on the margins.

A breathtaking modern artwork with symbolistic influences, paying homage to Max Klinger. Only for sensitive souls that would like to have at home a romantic corner for meditation.

Louis Carl Bruno Héroux  (Leipzig, 1868-1944)

The German painter Bruno Héroux, from a Huguenot family and son of an engraver, followed the teachings of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig, where he mastered xylography very quickly. From 1900 to 1910, he exhibited his paintings and engravings at the Salon of French Artists in Paris and obtained the Honorable Mention in 1906. His style, close to symbolism, evolved into the Jugendstil. Some of his drawings were used to decorate buildings in Leipzig. He is the author of several original engravings (some of which are erotic and very popular), and illustrated a large number of books.
