L'Oeil - SOLD

"L'Oeil" is an original etching realized by René Magritte in 1968 on Japon Paper. This is an edition of 150 prints. The artist's stamped-signature is on the lower right. The print is in perfect conditions. 

This Surrealist etching is from the portfolio " Le Lien de Paille ", published by Editions George Visat, Paris.

René Magritte  was a Belgian artist, and one of the most influential members of Surrealism. His paintings are clever and ironic, and he is popular for his illusionistic images that challenge the viewer on their interpretations.

The Kaplan Baum Catalogue raisonné of his prints lists only 2 lithographs and 18 etchings. The artist began them in other media and then made graphic works of them. They were all created during the last eight years of the artist's life (until 1968). Many etchings were eventually published with a stamped signature.
