Charles-Édouard de Beaumont , better known as Édouard de Beaumont, born between 1819 and 1822 and died in Paris 17th on January 13, 1888, is a French painter and lithographer. The Captain's Share (1868), formerly in Paris at the Musée du Luxembourg. Charles-Édouard de Beaumont is the son of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste de Beaumont. His father places him as a student with the painter Antoine-Félix Boisselier where he learns drawing and watercolor. He tries his hand at sculpture by making a few statuettes. Beaumont began as a landscape designer at the Salon of 1838. He was present at the Salons of 1839 and 1840, then he left to visit Italy until 1847. On his return, he devoted himself to genre painting. He exhibited again at the Salons between 1853 and 1868. He owes his fame to his talents as an illustrator, watercolourist and lithographer. Charles-Édouard de Beaumont produced all the illustrations for the Revue Picturesque, the Diable d'amore, the Famous Dwarfs and the 1845 edition of Notre-Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo. He has been criticized for drawing too often inspiration from Paul Gavarni. In 1879, he co-founded the Société des aquarellistes with Vibert, and became its president. Beaumont bequeaths his collection of weapons to the Cluny museum in Paris.
