This is a very confidential letter to the countess “ Mimì” , in which the French writer confesses “ le coup a été dur ” and fortunately he warded off “ le debacle”, he is still alive: he saved him from a heart attack.

The background: From the established reputation and the creativity without rest, Jean Cocteau was obviously under stress: he traveled to Greece and Spain, took charge of Cannes Festival in 1953 and 1954, in the same years he published two poetry collection, “ La Corrida du lermai” which was inspired from his second journey to Spain, and “ Clair-Obscur” .
