Bidet is an original decorative object realized by the Italian artist and designer Andrea Spadini in the mid-20th Century.

Unique piece.

Good overall conditions but some missing ceramic parts and some craquelure.

The pool is supported by a group of high-relief female figures. In the center of the tank, the figures of an eye and a lips are present in a voyeristic sense.

Andrea Spadini (1912-1983) was an italia sculptor particularly well know for his ceramics.
In the 1950s, he was the owner of the homonymous company whose workshop was located in Rome.
Spadini's ceramics, especially between 1950s and 1070s, due to their originality, immediately conquered a demanding public both in Europe and in US.
Andrea Spadini's relationship with the States was due to one of his collectors, Count Lanfranco Rasponi, with multiple interests and an extensive international network of relations. Count Rasponi was at that time owner of the Sagittarius Gallery in New York, where in 1956 the first Spadini exhibition in America was held.
Thanks to the success of this exhibition, Spadini will present his works in 1960 at Tiffany & Co's boutique in Fifth Avenue, which will be much appreciated by Hollywood starts including Lauren Bacall, Henry Fonda, Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
Also in New York, the bronze sculptures of playing and dancing animals of 1964-1965 should be remembered: monkeys, goats, hippos, elephants, penguins that decorate and animate the large Musical Clock commissioned by the wealthy American publisher George Delacorte (1894-1991) , located at the entrance to the Central Park Zoo in Manhattan.
