Beautiful and precious ancient painting depicting the Flagellation scene; the work is pervaded by great drama and dynamism, on the left side we see the Christ figure tied to the column, on the right side instead we find the flagellators. The painting is extremely suggestive because the use of color, typical of the early 16th century Venetian painting.

To distinguish tha author from his great-uncle Jacopo Palma the Elder - il Vecchio - (Venice, 1549 - 1628), Jacopo Negretti is known as Palma the Younger. He was an Italian painter and a citizen of the Republic of Venice, an important exponent of the Venetian school. He was immediately initiated into pictorial studies following the footsteps of his father's uncle, Palma the Elder and his mother's brother. He studied and was influenced by Raphael and Tintoretto, he also made several copies of Titian, his true master, with whom he later collaborated, also completing the famous painting La Pietà.
