" Prosit! " is an original artwork realized by Leopold Schmid in 1960. Xilograph on laid blue paper. Hand signed with white pencil on the lower right margin; "Prosit1960!" is written on the lower left margin. Very good conditions.

It represents a female figure that is pouring something in a pitcher. The background is blue and the figures are black. The composition is Expressionist and the sense of perspective is given by some horizontal lines in the background.

Leopold Schmid (Wien, 1901 – Wien, 1989) was an Austrian painter and engraver; between 1918 and 1925, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wien. Then, he worked as a freelance painter, especially with architects. In 1934, he realized some rock engravings for the castle of Wien. In 1952, he became Professor. In 1964, he won the “Fine Arts Prix of Wien City”.
