Io Sono Fontana

Io Sono Fontana  is an original etching realized by Lucio Fontana in 1966. This is an edition of 99 prints. The etching is hand signed on the lower right margin and initialed P. A. on the lower left margin.

Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) was an American painter and sculptor. He studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. He was a member of the French group Abstraction-Création. In 1935, he adhered to the movement of the Italian Abstractionists in Turin. In 1946, he moved to Buenos Aires and developed the  Manifesto Blanco , which marked the beginning of his “spatial” experiences; the following year, in Milan, he signed the first manifesto of the  spatial movement . In 1958, the first cuts on canvas appeared. In 1966, he won the international Gran Premio for painting at the Venice Biennial.
