Cerne Abbas, Giant, Tump

Cerne Abbas, Giant, Tump  is a colored etching on rosaspina Fabriano watermarked paper, realized in 1976 by the English Pop artist  Joe Tilson .

Hand-signed , dated and numbered in pencil on the lower margin.  Edition of 100 prints . In excellent conditions.

From the  Wessex Portfolio , a collection of seven etchings with aquatint and six screenprinted poems on rosaspina paper by  Joe Tilson

This contemporary original print represents the Cerne Abbas giant, the figure carved on the slope of a steep hill. This giant naked man is located in England, near the village of Cerne Abbas, north of Dorchester, in Dorset. The engraving, 55 meters high and 51 wide, is formed by a trench 30 cm wide, 30 cm deep, made by tearing the grass and digging the earth up to the underlying plaster. In the right hand the giant holds a 37-meter-long club.

Composed by three different etchings, each titled on the right margin, this is a very interesting contemporary artwork that cannot be missing in your art collection!

A copy of this same print is preserved at the Tate Gallery in London.
