Cartelettre Tendue - Inversé

Cartelettre tendue - inversé is a wonderful original mezzotint, signed by Joerg Ortner, dated and with notes in pencil on the lower margin.

The deep black of this magic mezzotint captures the observer's attention like in a magnetic attraction; for this reason, the Austrian artist was great!

The artwork is printed on a cream-colored paper. In excellent conditions: as good as new, including a white cardboard passepartout (50 x 32.3 cm).

Joerg Ortner (Bad Kreuzen, Austria, 1940 - Vannes, 2011) is a multidisciplinary artist, well-known for his paintings and engravings.

In his engraved work, the artist managed to combine multiple techniques: etching, burin, aquatint, mezzotint or dry-point, searching for the reversal of black, white, and gray values, creating negative prints.

His series Tholos, certainly the most famous of his engraved works, is subdivided into states, successive experimentations with the same motive, sometimes in positive, sometimes in negative, in which he keeps integrating new elements.
