Antonia Pozzi

Antonia Pozzi  is an original artwork realized by the Italian artist and photographer  Angelo Cricchi  in 2009.

Digital print from negative film 6x6.

Hand-signed , dated, and numbered on the back by the artist. The artist's stamp is also present on the back. Edition of 5 photos.

The artwork is one of the photographs of the portfolio  Gloomy Sunday  realized by the artist in the second half of the 2000s.

The protagonist of the photo is the Italian poetess Antonia Pozzi (Milan, 1912 - 1938), who committed suicide at the age of 26. Antonia had a delicate spirit and felt oppressed by the suffocating and bigot environment of 1920s Italy. An odd misty light, perhaps a metaphor for her spirit, wins the darkness of the sky and propagates through the city below.

The artwork is one of the photographs of the portfolio  Gloomy Sunday realized by the artist in the second half of the 2000s.

This photograph represents a young woman lying down on the snow. She is the Italian poetess Antonia Pozzi (Milan, 1912 - 1938), who committed suicide at the age of 26. Antonia had a delicate spirit and felt oppressed by the suffocating and bigot environment of 1920s Italy. She left poems and photographs, together with an unforgettable farewell letter, in which she declared her "mortal despare".

An odd misty light, perhaps a metaphor for her spirit, wins the darkness of the sky and propagates through the city below.
