Autograph Letter by Hippolyte Carnot
Autograph letter signed, dated 1er Mai [1848] by the French politician Hippolyte Carnot (Saint-Omer, 1801 - Paris, 1888), younger brother of the founder of thermodynamics Sadi Carnot.
In this letter Carnot thanks his colleague, most likely the poet and Minister of Foreign Affairs Alphonse de Lamartine, for recommending his relative “M. Sautereau” to the Ambassador in London Philippe de Rohan-Chabot-Jarnac. Carnot’s relative was likely baron Fe´lix Sautereau du Part (1811-1862) , who in 1848 was appointed 'Directeur des Haras'.
Two pages and a half. In fine conditions.
